I'm trying to be on this “be one with nature" journey. Meditating outside, running on trails, hiking mountains, swimming in oceans, standing under waterfalls, wading in rivers, sitting outside and enjoying the weather are just a few of the activities that I really LOVE to do.
But what happens when the job has you on that get-sleep-give-up-social life journey (when you are so tired that you need HELLA sleep so you don't go anywhere or do anything)? Well I decided to visit my favorite social site, Pinterest, for some at home nature inspiration.
I have a few different themes in each room of my home but adding plants to each room was a perfect way to still be one with a little nature on those days when going outside after work was not happening. Everything is still a work in progress at my house but here are a few tips to making an urban jungle work in your home!
1.Start small. I purchased my plants from Ikea and Home Depot. So far so good. They are getting big pretty fast. C’mon green thumb!
2.Plant pots. Buy the right size, make sure they don't leak (take them back if they do), and make them cute. All of mine are white to show a huge contrast between the plants and other décor in the rooms.
3.Water. I water my plants every three days and I spray the leaves with a spray bottle filled with water as well. I don't know if this is a thing but I made it a thing in my house and it works.
4.Sunlight. Most house plants don't need direct sunlight. I put one set of my plants at the window and they were not having it at all. The leaves looked like they were on the verge of burning and wilting. I put them in the shade and followed my regular water routine and now they are back to normal.
5.Display. How you choose to display your plants will truly make your Urban Jungle have its own statement. I'm going to leave some photos below from Pinterest for #plantgang inspiration.
I hope you start an urban jungle, get some natural air purifiers in your home, and just be able to freaking relax, sit back and say toyourself, “I'm a urban jungle creating genius!”
Enjoy the #plantgang inspiration!
