Pronounced “Pu::ket”, this city is located in Southern Thailand along with a few other islands. Although I'd love to give you the entire history of the island (no, really I was about to) I'm sure that isn't what you want to read about, so I'll tell you the stuff you can get into in order to make your vacation there LIT!
1.Ride elephants through the jungle. Just imagine for a second riding on a gigantic elephant! I mean HUGE! Then imagine watching an elephant show and being allowed to get close enough to touch the elephants. Finally, imagine lying on your side on the ground and the elephant kissing you on your ear. Cool huh? I guarantee you it was such an amazing experience. Maybe I'm biased because elephants are my favorite animal, but it's an experience like no other.
2.Kayaking. You have to go kayaking. It's so much fun, I promise. I do suggest wearing a swimsuit because if the people you are in the kayak with get tired of rowing and you get tired of being the only fool rowing, then you can jump into the river and swim back to shore if you're close enough to land. Just ask your guide first if it's safe. Our tour guides were also awesome enough to cook us a traditional Thai meal. Yum! So freaking good.
3.Visit an outdoor street food vending area. I went to Phuket when it was hot as hell, so I don't suggest being out in the hot sun for hours hopping from cart to cart to try new foods. I went out at night and it was such an amazing foodie experience.
4.Go see The Big Buddha. It's a huge statue. Seriously, it's a very very big statue that sits on top of a hill. It's absolutely gorgeous and if you have the time to go you should definitely see it. It has a very peaceful atmosphere and the views are breathtaking. It's a must see if you visit Phuket.
5.Where to stay!? Anywhere! No I'm joking. You have a ton of choices though. You can either stay in some very nice villas in what I call “downtown Phuket” which is basically super close to the beach (did I mention how amazing those are?) or you can stay a little further away in a more common or international brand of hotel like the Marriott or the J.W. Marriott. Either way you choose, you'll be very comfortable.
I have been to Thailand twice and both times I enjoyed myself. The first time I partied hard and did all the fun party things in Thailand. The second time I did all the fun sightseeing, community service, and relaxing things. Whatever you decide to do I'm sure you'll have all of the fun. Just remember to go with the right people, take amazing photos, eat all of the food!
